Law

Our Subject Specialist Pathways are available to any student wanting to Get the Edge. The Pathways are best suited to students in Year 10 or above wanting to access Pre-University Subject-Specific knowledge and masterclasses clinics to develop understanding and confidence in the subject they may wish to study at university. Students will be guided by our expert network of Advisors, and will experience university-level debate.

Top UK universities are looking for intellectually curious and ambitious applicants with self-motivation and a real passion for their chosen subject. Avernus Education supports students to explore their studies beyond the school curriculum to enhance and enrich their knowledge in the subject they want to study at university. Our Subject Specialist Pathways expose students to subject-specific, degree-level concepts that will enrich knowledge as well as enhancing a personal statement, admissions test or interview to impress admissions tutors at top UK universities.

Personalised Pathways

Each Pathway develops our philosophy of Education Beyond the Classroom. Pathways include carefully designed sessions to ensure students have the opportunity to pre-learn topics that are most likely to come up in an Oxbridge interview, as well as bespoke guidance about how this knowledge is essential for all UK university application preparation.

Our pathways include subject-specific options, career-specific options and age-specific mentoring. Sessions can be adjusted and personalised based on the needs and preferences of each student. A minimum of 5 hours worth of sessions is recommended, although 20-30hrs is typical for the Pathway to be effective.

EXPERT ADVICE

Tom's Top Tips

Read advanced texts and papers in multiple subject areas

“Evidence of wider reading should begin from Year 10 onwards, if not before. This is particularly true for students who have not yet decided which subject they want to study at university. Although it is possible to cover the recommended breadth and depth of reading in the year before the application deadline, students starting earlier have a significant advantage. Exploring new ideas and concepts through in-depth analysis of academic papers, journals, and essays will only build confidence and strengthen an application.”

Mentoring around wider reading is an integral aspect of all Avernus Specialist Subject Pathways. Within our Pathways, our expert Advisors can help students sample a range of wider reading across different disciplines enhancing and enriching subject knowledge as well as narrowing down the choice of potential degree subject.

ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT MENTORING

Separate Academic Enrichment Mentoring is available to help students with their academic studies and preparation for public examinations. It is never too early to receive online academic support to supplement classrooms lessons or reach beyond the curriculum. Any student can receive support from Avernus Education in any subject and Get the Edge at GCSE or Advance at A-Level. We support students in all subjects across different examination boards. Whether a consistent enhancement of students’ existing understanding of their subject, or as a last-minute revision exercise, our Advisors will design a bespoke study plan to enrich your subject knowledge, cover any weaknesses and help achieve the best possible grades.
